It worked best with the Cannon 600 and is still the best I have found for the Epson. If you are looking for the absolute best 24bit full color photo reproduction at 720dpi (natch), nothing beats HP's LX JetSeries Glossy Paper (HP 51636H) in quality or (sigh) price. You must first pause the printer, then press and hold the ALT button until the carriage moves over. Then you must remove ONLY the ink cartridge, DO NOT remove the whole printhead. Insert the new cartridge and press the alt button again. The printer will then clean and prime the printhead and Reset the ink out/ink low error. You aren't losing printheads, you are experiencing the chamber-lock effect that I have already described on this newsgroup. Especially if it happens right after you replace a cartridge. Try not to run them so dry, basically, when you remove the cartridge, the printer is sucking air into the printhead and causing a break in the siphoning of ink from the cartridge. If I'm correct, Epson probably gets the printer back to you pretty quickly... all they do is install new cartridges and manually prime the printhead... That is 95% of the service performed in the epson stable the past few years. Had problem after I installed new color cartridge incorectly. I removed the print head from the printer first. Thiswas a mistake. Must install leaving head in the printer. The following was featured here in this newsgroup... Factory reset for the Epson IIs 1) Turn off piece of junk 2) Hold down Alt and Pause buttons while turning on piece of junk 3) Let about 5+ seconds go by while holding down these two buttons 4) Release the buttons and the red error light should come on 5) Press the Load/Eject and hold for about 20 seconds, the pane 1 lights will start flashing. 6) Press pause button and you're finished. I then went thru the head cleaning process and BINGO it worked. Let us know if the above works for you. Good luck. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon, 19 Oct 1998 12:54:08 -0500 From: Andrew Rossmann Newsgroups: comp.periphs.printers Subject: Re: What's the ESC code for RESET?
